Stay Fit through the alpine winter

While in your chalet, the open fire waits and crackles for you

Snowshoes, skis and the magic of chalets

Due to its location in the Nock mountains Biosphere Reserve and its proximity to the towns of Bad Kleinkirchheim and Turrach, the Almdorf Seinerzeit is a paradise for active holidaymakers. Depending on the season, we climb peaks, hit balls and run kilometers. Could all this be done within the same holiday period? For the sporty guests, our chalet host has some tips ready.

With the invigorating alpine breakfast, the winter months are also made for sport. Four ski areas for all skill levels await you just a few kilometers from the Almdorf Seinerzeit. Toboggans and cross-country skis are waiting for you. How beautiful is a day in the Alps when the snow crunches under your shoes and the sun rays on ice crystals create snow sparkles? And when the evening comes, you cuddle up next to your open fire.

Skiing

Four ski areas for beginners and advanced skiers

The Falkert ski area is ideal for beginners and families with young children. The experts among you will love the 100 km of slopes in the World Cup venue Bad Kleinkirchheim. The Turracher Höhe also has 14 ski lifts, some of which are open from November to early May, and one of the longest XXL fun slopes in the world will make snowboarders’ hearts beat faster. The Hochrindl family ski area with 20 km of slopes is an insider tip.

Ski rental and ski schools in every ski area!

Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing on Speikkofel

The easy tour to the Speikkofel is an ideal introduction to winter hiking pleasure. Through a light Swiss stone pine forest, you stomp up to the tree line and enjoy the clear winter air. The path leads through free alpine pastures via the small Speikkofel to the big Speikkofel. At the top, you will be rewarded with a wonderful panoramic view over the Nock mountains to the Klagenfurt basin.

Don’t forget to pack your schnapps!

Toboggan

Tobogganing is fun for young and old at Falkert

Not only children’s eyes will shine here! So put on your warm clothes, your hat and do not forget your gloves, then you’re ready to go – along a prepared path towards Sunday valley. Then it is time to get going for one kilometer down to the frozen lake Falkert. In the evening the toboggan run is illuminated until 10 pm, with romantic tobogganing fun guaranteed!

Cross-country skiing

Cross-country ski-runs with  a view

Only a few kilometers away from the Almdorf Seinerzeit, at Falkert, you will find a 6.5 km long high-altitude trail. A wonderful cross-country ski run over a beautiful sunny slope, in an absolutely quiet location with a panoramic view. In November you can already cross-country ski in the snow-covered valley of Bad Kleinkirchheim, with its 8 km long trail for passionate cross-country skiers. Discover the variety of other groomed cross-country trails on the Turrach, Hochrindl or nearby in Gnesau.

Ski tours

On your own

Away from the slopes, the real winter experience for ski tourists awaits with dreamy powder snow descents in the Nock mountains area. Feel nature firsthand, follow your trail uphill and forget all the effort of the ascent when you go downhill. This is the real ski tour experience!

For all those who want to try it out and want to be away from the secured slopes, there is one Carinthian ski tour nature trail on the Falkert.
